About the role
The Senior Accountant at Supira Medical is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting mechanics and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the company's financial records. This role will own key components of the monthly close process, maintain supporting schedules and reconciliations, and assist in preparing financial statements for management and external auditors.
Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all close activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and other standard closing entries.
- Review supporting documentation and maintain clear audit-ready schedules for all material accounts.
- Maintain and update close checklists and procedures to support efficient monthly reporting.
- Prepare and review all financial statement account reconciliations each month.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Ensure reconciliation documentation is organized and audit-ready.
- Compile monthly financial statements, including:
- Balance Sheet
- Statement of Operations
- Cash Flow
- support schedules
- Prepare budget vs. actual variance reports for management review.
- Maintain supporting schedules used in management reporting and board reporting packages.
- Aid in tracking and recording clinical trial and research-related expenses, including vendor accruals and study-related costs.
- Maintain documentation for contract research organizations (CROs) and other clinical vendors to support accrual estimates.
- Ensure accounting documentation meets internal control and audit standards.
- Help develop and improve accounting procedures and documentation appropriate for a growing venture-backed company.
- Assist in implementing best practices for financial controls, reconciliations, and reporting.
Skills & Hands-On Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 7–10 years of accounting experience.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Medical device or life science experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Familiarity with companies subject to external audit.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently in a small, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
