Senior Accountant
About the Role
Royal Credit Union is looking for an experienced accounting professional to join our team as a Senior Accountant. In this role, you'll lead critical accounting initiatives, ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, collaborate on strategic projects, and help strengthen the financial foundation that supports our Members and communities.
The Senior Accountant will provide advanced assistance to the Accounting Manager in the overall operation of the Accounting Department and serves as a backup to the Accounting Manager in their absence. You will execute projects with varying degrees of complexity and perform accounting duties and reporting in compliance with GAAP and state and federal regulations.

- Analyze complex accounting issues, make sound decisions, and implement effective solutions.
- Manage complex accounting activities, investigate discrepancies, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while handling confidential financial information.
- Prepare high-quality work products and maintain compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively within a team environment, prepare reports and business correspondence, mentor others, and provide accounting-related education and guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
- Five years of progressive accounting experience or three years of financial services accounting experience.
- Must be bondable.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, complex accounting principles, financial reporting requirements, and financial services operations.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and technology tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cost Accounting and Financial Data Analysis experience.
- Financial Services Accounting experience.
- Previous mentoring experience.
- Data extraction system experience (SQL, PowerBI, etc.).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

Pay
- Eau Claire Market: $99,600 - $114,600 annually.
- St. Croix Valley/Minnesota Market: $114,700 - $131,900 annually.
This is an exempt-level, salaried position. Candidates with significant related experience may be offered higher compensation.
Schedule
Full-Time salaried position; Hours will generally be Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed.
This position is part of Royal's workplace flexibility program and has the ability to be hybrid remote after approximately 2-4 months of training and proficiency in the position. When not working remote, the office location is flexible at either the Corporate Office in Eau Claire, WI, or at a Royal Minnesota office based on office availability and candidate preference. This position requires residency within Royal’s office footprint.
Training: Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.
