Senior Accountant

About the role

RIDGEVIEW is a nonprofit community mental health center and hospital headquartered in Oak Ridge, TN, providing outpatient programs across Anderson, Campbell, Morgan, Roane, Scott, and Fentress counties, and operating a 16‑bed Joint Commission accredited adult inpatient unit at its main center. Funding comes from Medicare, Medicaid/TennCare, commercial insurance, and federal, state, and local sources. Responsibilities

• Manage and ensure the integrity of accounting books and records.
• Prepare financial reports for the board, management, program leadership, and external stakeholders (federal, state, etc.).
• Understand and manage numerous grants with varying requirements in coordination with the accounting team.
• Back up the Controller as needed.
• Record, verify, consolidate, and enter transactions to ensure accounting information integrity.
• Prepare and record journal entries for assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses.
• Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts through verification, allocation, posting, reconciliation, and discrepancy resolution.
• Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
• Support monthly and year‑end close processes, ensuring accurate recording and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Summarize financial status by preparing balance sheets, profit‑and‑loss statements, and other documents.
• Complete external audit tasks: analyze and schedule general ledger accounts, provide information to auditors.
• Organize financial information in secure electronic folders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with an accounting concentration.
• Three or more years of hands‑on experience and knowledge of GAAP, preferably in a hospital or nonprofit setting.
• Strong technical accounting skills.
• Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel.
