Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will report directly to the Controller and play a significant role in the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company. This position will help develop financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. The role includes day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, and overseeing all financial-related activities and systems, including accounting, payroll, tax, credit, forecasting, budgeting, and vendor relations.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger accounting – Assist Controller on monthly financial reporting including balance sheet, profit and loss statement, statement of cash flows, and owner’s equity.
• Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations including prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and fixed assets.
• Support processing accounts payable and ensure timely payment to vendors.
• Process and oversee weekly check runs, including ad hoc check requests.
• Research and resolve accounting issues and inquiries concerning accounts payable.
• Prepare management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends, as directed by senior leadership.
• Audit job cost reporting.
• Assist with annual and quarterly forecasting.
• Payroll – Prepare bi-weekly payroll through timecard review, commission calculations, and auditing of deductions.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and interacting with management.
• Review position and rate changes as directed by the Human Resources team.
• Assist with quarterly calculations of bonuses and other compensation.
• Act as the main point of contact with outside payroll processing service on payroll-related issues.
• Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
• Act as a point of escalation for the administrative accounting team.
• Assist in determining and calculating key performance indicators, as directed by business need and management.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the accounting software and facilitate special reporting within the accounting team and other teams.
• Assist in evaluating internal controls and make recommendations to limit potential risk.
• Provide financial information to outside parties as needed.
• Maintain customer and employee confidence by keeping information confidential.
• Evaluate business processes and controls both within the accounting team and beyond and make recommendations based on findings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or finance.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in general ledger accounting.
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Experience with job costing.
• Experience with management reporting and analysis.

Pay

$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
