Senior Accountant

About the role

At NOW CFO, we are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Accountant Consultant to support clients throughout the Portland, Oregon market. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, solving problems, and working with different businesses and leadership teams.

Responsibilities

• Support essential accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, billing, payroll support, and revenue recognition
• Prepare and support month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial reports
• Prepare income statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and other financial reporting packages
• Review accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP
• Research and resolve account discrepancies, variances, and accounting issues
• Aid with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation
• Help improve accounting procedures, close processes, internal controls, and reporting practices
• Aid with audit requests, tax preparation, and external reporting requirements
• Work directly with Accounting Managers, Controllers, CFOs, business owners, and client accounting teams
• Support multiple client engagements while managing competing priorities and deadlines

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Three or more years of progressive accounting experience
• Previous Senior Accountant or similar accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and month-end close
• Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
• Strong general ledger and account analysis experience
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, or variance analysis is a plus
• Experience across multiple industries or business environments preferred
• Familiarity with systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting platforms
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving abilities
• Comfortable working independently and communicating directly with clients and business leaders
• Willingness to travel to client locations throughout Portland, Vancouver, Salem, and surrounding areas

Pay

The base salary for this role ranges from $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience.

This role is available on a hybrid schedule.
