Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and hold self and others accountable in line with MRPR Core Values.
• Cook up client engagement, accepting responsibility as the in-charge of the client engagement, including financial statements and tax returns; plan various phases of the engagement and coordinate fieldwork; deliver timely quality service and product; and communicate on engagement progress.
• Show your stuff with GAAP knowledge and standards relating to audits, reviews, compilations, and accounting services; preparation or review of tax returns and related support; supervision of staff accountants; and knowledge and application of firm systems and processes.
• Be a master of effective client communication. Act as the client contact for basic questions and information; develop client relationships; and gain understanding of client’s business and industry in order to identify opportunities.
• Create career goals and objectives. Manage self and others to meet career objectives and performance expectations; develop new client contacts; and engage in networking activities to drive growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
• CPA (or EA) certification required or actively near completion.
• 3 - 6 years of experience in public accounting.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Experience leading and reviewing the work of others.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of:
• Assurance applications (CCH ProSystem fx Engagement, CS Professional Suite, Checkpoint).
• Accounting software applications (Quickbooks).
• Tax research database and planning tools (CCH, Checkpoint, BNA or comparable).
• Tax compliance software (Axcess Tax or comparable).
• Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat.
