About the role
Merge is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This position will assist in preparing day-to-day corporate accounting operations, supporting the month-end close process, and helping to implement systems and processes that will support Merge as we continue to grow.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Build or enhance balance sheet account reconciliations, including reviewing and performing some clean-up of historical reconciliations and related balances.
- Aid in the preparation of various financial statements, such as balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
- Identify and drive process improvements to gain efficiencies and reduce close timelines.
- Operations: Oversee accounts payable functions, including managing our offshore team’s work, coordinating vendor onboarding, reviewing vendor invoices, managing vendor payments, and ensuring timely issuance of 1099 forms.
- Manage the Billing and Accounts Receivable processes, managing tasks including invoice processing and collections.
- Utilize financial software systems (e.g. Campfire, Ordway, Stripe, Ramp) and tools proficiently to manage financial data and reporting tasks efficiently.
- Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline accounting workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve scalability.
- Leverage technology, data analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial insights.
- Audit Preparation: Assist in annual financial statement audit, preparing audit schedules & other audit requests, and interacting directly with external audit staff.
- Stay current on pertinent accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and drive ongoing improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent preferred.
- 1+ years of relevant accounting experience; Combination of public accounting (Big 4 strongly preferred) and industry experience (start-up through to becoming a public Company experience a plus).
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month end/year end close process is strongly preferred.
- Experience with financial audit preparation is strongly preferred.
- Proven proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc); must be highly proficient in Excel and Google suite products.
- Excellent writing, oral communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent problem solving skills; project management experience a plus, ability to work in a fast pace environment.
Qualifications
- Direct accounting experience for any/all of the following areas: accruals, ASC 718 share-based payments, ASC 842 leases.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.), Campfire, Ramp, and Ordway.
Skills
- Compensation: The cash compensation range for this role is $105,000-135,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications.
