Senior Accountant
About the position
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to take full ownership of core accounting operations, including the general ledger, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4+ years of progressive accounting experience and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You will serve as a key finance team member and a go-to resource for accounting accuracy, reporting, and operational support. This role offers strong exposure across the full accounting cycle today, with a clear path to expand into Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) responsibilities such as budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as the company grows. You will work closely with finance leadership as a trusted right hand, while also partnering cross-functionally across departments to support financial transparency and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper classification of all transactions
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping activities, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Perform and review bank and account reconciliations on a monthly and as-needed basis
- Lead and support the month-end and year-end close process, including preparation of supporting schedules and reconciliations
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute internal financial reports for management and leadership review
- Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and internal controls
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, aging reviews, and collections support when needed
- Develop and maintain Excel-based financial models, reports, and reconciliations (advanced Excel required)
- Support audits, tax filings, and any external reporting requirements as needed
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and improve financial processes
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and accuracy within accounting workflows
- (Future) Support budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A initiatives, including variance analysis and financial planning support
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track strongly preferred)
- 4+ years of accounting experience (private accounting background preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting and full month-end close ownership
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)
- Experience with accounting systems/ERP software (Sage, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and present financial information clearly
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently while also being a team player
- High level of accountability, ownership, and problem-solving ability
Pay
$90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
