Senior Accountant
About the Role
The Accounting team is responsible for producing Lexipol’s financial statements and completing the monthly, quarterly, and year end close accurately and on time. The team also prepare ad hoc and scheduled financial reports to various internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Accountant will have primary responsibility for several accounting areas including Leases (ASC 842), Revenue recognition (ASC 606) including percentage of completion revenue recognition over professional services, deferred contract acquisition costs (ASC 350), and internal-use software (ASC 350). The role will actively participate in the month-end close process by preparing journal entries and completing account reconciliations. This role will also coordinate audit requests and support the Company’s annual financial statement audits. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Director of Accounting and others within the company to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable accounting standards. Interact with various departments/teams including O2C (Order to Cash which includes billing, collections, and cash application), Sales, HR, Legal, Marketing, Product Management, Professional Services, and Customer Success Management.
Areas of Focus
- Prepare and/or review journal entries and account reconciliations for Leases (ASC 842), Revenue recognition (ASC 606) including SaaS subscription revenue and percentage of completion revenue recognition over professional services, deferred contract acquisition costs, and internal-use software (ASC 350).
- Oversee accounting for revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and commission capitalization in accordance with ASC 606 and ASC 340-40 (deferred contract acquisition cost).
- Monitor new accounting guidance and evaluate its impact on the company’s accounting policies, processes, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and review technical accounting memos and research complex accounting and reporting matters.
- Support preparation and review of financial statements, management reports, and other ad hoc financial analyses.
- Advise management on technical accounting and financial reporting matters, including the interpretation and implementation of accounting standards.
- Coordinate audit requests and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors during the annual financial statement audit.
- Manage monthly close calendar and ensure all assigned activities are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Identify and implement improvements to the month-end close process and internal controls over financial reporting.
- Work with the team to create Standard Operating Procedures and desktop instructions.
- Assist with cross-training of team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP.
- Must have experience with revenue recognition (e.g., ASC 606) for SaaS companies including percent of completion revenue recognition.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in accounting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn.

- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate complex accounting concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in supporting accounting projects, such as accounting standard implementations and process improvements.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and very adept at using varied systems.
- A continuous-improvement mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lease accounting (e.g., ASC 842), deferred contract acquisition costs (ASC 340-40), and internal developed software (e.g., ASC 350).
- CPA certification is preferred.
- Master’s degree in Accounting.
- 2 to 3 years of public accounting experience.
- 2 to 3 years private accounting experience.
- Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce and Floqast is preferred, but not required.

- Prepare accurate month-end close entries and reconciliations with clear supporting documentation, references, and conclusions.
- Function as a coordinator for external audit requests.
- Assist with providing formal or informal training to others on accounting matters.
- Continuously improve processes: document and measure current accounting processes; optimize processes to reduce hours, increase efficiency, and eliminate non-value-add work; document and measure optimized processes.
- Uncover opportunities to automate and lead implementation.

Compensation
- Lexipol offers a competitive base salary, monthly, quarterly, or annual incentive and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with Company match and a flexible paid time off plan.
- Target salary for this role is approximately $105k with a bonus opportunity.
Schedule & Location
- Candidates must be willing to work two days per week in our Frisco, TX headquarters office, typically Tuesdays and Thursdays.
