Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all transactions.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with company policies.
- Aid in leading the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Review reconciliations for key accounts, such as cash, fixed assets, and accruals, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
- Aid in gathering information for the annual budget and provide input for financial forecasting and variance analysis.
- Provide necessary documentation to management during audits.
- Provide management with necessary information for external accounting firm to file of federal, state, and local tax returns and property tax, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Evaluate and improve processes, identifying areas for efficiency and accuracy improvements in accounting practices.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status to provide management with insights for decision-making.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff, supporting their development and assisting with complex tasks.
- Ad hoc responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum Years of Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a staff accountant role.
- Previous experience within a legal or professional services environment preferred.
- Proficient in accounting software; Sage experience preferred.
