Senior Accountant

General Job Duties

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities and perform month-end close
• Understand payroll processing including timesheet/expense approval and set up and release of payroll
• Assist in preparing and reviewing financial statements and bank reconciliations
• Assist in the year-end close process
• Assist with budgeting as requested
• Record or review client payments
• Generate journal entries for month-end close - expense allocations, monthly accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation, and make adjusting/reclassification journal entries, if necessary
• Responsible for unearned revenue - maintaining schedules, interfacing with contracts staff and project leads to stay up to date on changing revenue recognition, ensuring G/L is up to date before any close
• Promote a team effort environment by teaching/assisting other members of accounting as needed
• Prepare or review invoicing as needed

Requirements

• 5+ years job experience in accounting, experience in government consulting firms preferred
• Experience with Unanet required, experience with ADP preferred
• Strong computer skills - Experience in working with large data and spreadsheets in Excel
• Strong organizational skills - Effective in constantly re-prioritizing work and following through on commitments
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills - ability to determine solutions based on the situation
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Team-oriented, self-starter that can work in both a collaborative and independent environment
• Highly detail oriented
