Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Preparation and analysis of all accounts including the required journal entries, accruals and other adjustments for all balance sheet and income statement accounts for assigned Brands by the month-end close schedule deadlines.
- Process and analyze financial transactions; verify and validate data.
- Complete assigned journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with monthly, quarterly and annual closing calendars.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations; make Accounting Leadership aware of any discrepancies in need of resolution on a timely basis.
- Maintains the accuracy of the balance sheet and income statement assigned accounts on a US GAAP accrual basis.
- Prepare detailed statements and reports for financial transactions of assigned Brands, communicate to brand leadership and finance leadership.
- Prepare and explain variance analysis and explanation on the monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external reporting packages, including forecasts and budgets, as required.
- Prepare requests from outside providers, including auditors and tax professionals.
- Ensure capable of being back-up for key activities as needed.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
- Proven ability to follow established procedures while identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex financial information and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Solid technical accounting expertise across multiple functional areas with a strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Self-motivated team player who can work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- High level of personal initiative and a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills (including formulas, pivot tables, and macros).
- Experience working in a multi-company and/or multi-location environment strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP/accounting systems preferred.
- Able to manage high-volume workloads during month-end, quarter-end, year-end close, and budgeting cycles.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Public accounting experience and/or prior experience working with outside auditors is a plus.
- Minimum 4-7 years of work experience, CPA is preferred.
Physical And Workplace Requirements
- Light-duty work environment – primarily office-based with minimal physical exertion.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Occasional standing or walking for presentations or facilitation.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally.
