Senior Accountant

Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, verifying entries and resolving discrepancies.
- Oversee journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and corrections.
- Monitor and ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure integrity of financial information.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GAAP, IFRS, tax laws).
- Support internal and external audits, preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable.
- Provide backup and oversight for the payroll process.
- Manage the monthly accrual and review process for expenses, ensuring all invoices not received by month end are included in the monthly financials.
- Analyze financial results as compared to budget and prior month results, and prepare reports showing variance analysis.
- Serve as the primary backup for the Accounts Payable and Payroll process for HPI and the primary processor of Accounts Payable and Payroll for Medcost.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or Business related discipline preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in Finance department at a third-party administrator of health plans.
- 5+ years of experience in payroll processing.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; experienced in collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and customers to resolve inquiries.
- Skilled at working cross-functionally to identify and resolve business process challenges.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g., SAP).
Preferred Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA certification is a plus.
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
