Senior Accountant
About the role
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the company’s financial close processes, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls. This role will perform complex accounting activities, assist with analyses for management, and contribute to process improvements within the accounting function.
Responsibilities
- Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement schedules
- Analyze financial data and identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Support internal and external audit requirements with clear documentation and timely responses
- Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new standards
- Contribute to development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures
- Partner with cross‑functional teams including FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and operations
- Assist with system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process simplification
- Participate in special projects as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Clearable U.S. Citizenship Required
- 3-5 plus years of accounting experience, government contracting is a plus
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint is a plus
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles
- Understanding of internal controls, including Sarbanes Oxley compliance
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Experience in a mid to large corporate environment
- CPA certification preferred but not required
Pay
Virginia Pay Range $100,000—$115,000 USD
