Senior Accountant

About the role

Gifford is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support accurate and timely financial operations in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Apply strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to prepare financial statements, manage complex general ledger accounts, and ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, perform reconciliations and analyses, and identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Partner closely with leadership to support audits, regulatory reporting, and cost reporting requirements, while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance standards.

Requirements

• Highest level of education: Bachelor’s Degree (in Accounting or Finance) or Associate’s degree with field experience.
• Minimum of three years of working experience with Bachelor’s degree in related field OR at least five years of working experience in Accounting role with Associate’s degree.
• Advanced working knowledge of Excel.
• Ability to organize, file, and maintain multiple projects.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Experience working in healthcare, preferred.
• Hands-on experience working with complex general ledger and reconciliation accounts.

Qualifications

• Critical thinking and attention to detail as it relates to data inconsistencies.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Collaborative approach to supporting team members and improving financial processes.
