What is the opportunity?
Foundation Academies is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead key accounting functions and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial records. Reporting to the School Business Administrator, this role will oversee the general ledger, monthly close, reconciliations, financial reporting, grants, audits, and financial systems. This is an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to apply strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills while helping strengthen financial operations and support informed organizational decision-making.

What will you be doing?
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Maintain the general ledger and complete key account reconciliations
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and budget-to-actual analyses
- Review accounts payable, revenue, payroll, and benefit accounting
- Manage grant and restricted-fund accounting and reporting
- Prepare audit schedules and coordinate accounting documentation
- Maintain fixed-asset, prepaid, deferred revenue, and other accounting schedules
- Monitor internal controls and identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes
- Review and resolve discrepancies, variances, and outstanding accounting items
- Support financial systems, reporting tools, and process improvements
- Provide guidance, review, and support to Business Office staff
- Partner with school and Home Office leaders to answer financial questions and support sound decision-making
What do we require from you?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups
- Experience with accounting or ERP systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to handle confidential financial and employee information with discretion
