Senior Accountant
About the Role
The Senior Accountant ensures accurate material, labor, and overhead standards for costing purposes, supports month-end and year-end close processes, monitors general ledger transactions, and prepares management reports. This role collaborates with multiple departments and Chief divisions, oversees capital expenditure transactions, and requires a detail-oriented, critical-thinking self-starter.
Responsibilities
- Update material cost standards and monitor labor and overhead rates to provide timely, accurate cost accounting reports for management decision-making.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate fixed assets lists, conduct annual audits, and manage CIP projects.
- Prepare multiple key performance indicator reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Conduct variance analysis of actual versus budgeted expenses and provide explanations for discrepancies.
- Provide regular financial analysis, including profitability and cost analysis, to management.
- Handle special costing projects and analyze operational results to meet management informational needs.
- Assist the Controller with month and year-end close procedures and financial report completion.
- Review and analyze manufacturing expenses to identify cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Assist with costing models, internal process audits, and process improvement projects.
- Support the Annual Operating Budget, budget reports, and annual audit, including preparing audit work papers.
- Initiate efficient and accurate methods for Chief Agri accounting processes.
- Monitor and correct posting transactions in the ERP system.
- Serve as backup for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable when necessary.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance (preferred).
- CPA, CGMA, or CMA certification (preferred).
