Senior Accountant

About the role
Ready to make a real impact at the forefront of digital assets? As a Senior Accountant, you'll work with the Accounting Manager to orchestrate daily accounting functions and ensure flawless month-end and year-end closes. You’ll partner closely with FP&A and SEC Reporting teams on vital financial initiatives to meet evolving cryptocurrency accounting standards and regulations. This role is based in NYC and requires in-office work near Union Square a minimum of 4 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Own and review the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Reconcile cryptocurrency wallets, exchanges, and blockchain transactions to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures tailored to the cryptocurrency industry.
- Collaborate with the SEC Reporting team in preparing and reviewing financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements) for compliance with accounting principles and cryptocurrency-specific standards.
- Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Stay updated on evolving cryptocurrency regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards.
- Assist in implementing and optimizing accounting software and blockchain-based financial tools.
- Coordinate with FP&A team on budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.
- Lead initiatives to automate balance sheet reconciliations, enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of the month-end close process.
- Drive continuous process improvement by identifying and implementing automation and workflow enhancements across accounting operations.
- Manage efforts to streamline and optimize the month-end close process while strengthening internal controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 3+ years of public and private accounting experience in Financial Services, FinTech, and/or Digital Assets industries.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting principles; experience with digital assets accounting practices highly preferred.
- Experience with accounting software and familiarity with blockchain-based financial tools.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and adapt to evolving industry regulations.
- Basic understanding of cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and digital asset management is highly desirable.
Pay
Anticipated base salary: $135,000 - $150,000 + discretionary annual target bonus + performance incentives/benefits. Offered salary reflects job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
