Senior Accountant

About the Role

Our client is a privately owned property management company focused on the acquisition, development, and management of multifamily and commercial properties. They're seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to ensure accurate and timely accounting and financial records across a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential entities. This in-office position is based at the client's Calabasas corporate office and involves close collaboration with property managers, accounting staff, owners, lenders, and investors.

This role stands out because you will own the accounting for a real portfolio of properties, work directly with the Assistant Controller, and interface with key stakeholders. The company values growth and rewards strong performance.

Responsibilities

• Handle accounting, reporting, and reconciliations for commercial and residential properties.
• Prepare monthly budget variance reports and provide explanations for variances.
• Create journal entries, owner draws, and financial reports.
• Track cash balances, disbursements, deposits, and debt payments.
• Prepare tax filings, projections, property tax payments, and 1099 support.
• Coordinate with property managers, accounting staff, owners, lenders, and investors.
• Track common area expenses as they are incurred.
• Prepare common area maintenance reconciliations and tenant bill-backs.
• Help develop, roll out, and enforce operational accounting policies and procedures for commercial properties.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• 3 years of property management accounting experience, specifically in commercial.
• Proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3 years of property management accounting experience in both commercial and multifamily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Pay

Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000. The final salary may vary based on factors such as education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business needs.
