Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) in accordance with accounting standards
- Analyze financial results, identify variances from budget or prior periods, and communicate findings to leadership
- Monitor and report on departmental and company-wide expenditures against approved budgets
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Support the annual budgeting process and coordinate input from department heads
- Prepare rolling forecasts and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making
- Partner with FP&A and business unit leaders on financial planning and capital allocation
- Track actuals versus forecast and provide timely variance commentary
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all accounts
- Review and approve invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments in accordance with company policy
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Manage fixed asset schedules, depreciation, and capitalization policies
- Support treasury operations including cash management and bank reconciliations
- Ensure all accounting activities are performed in compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Support internal and external audit requests, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filings in coordination with external advisors (sales tax, property tax, etc.)
- Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements to mitigate financial risk
- Partner with operations, HR, back office, and other business units to provide financial guidance and support
- Assist in evaluating the financial impact of business decisions, contracts, and new initiatives
- Support lender, investor, and board reporting requirements as needed
- Mentor junior accounting staff and support knowledge-sharing across the team
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; renewable energy experience preferred
- Proficiency in ERP systems; Sage and Microsoft Excel preferred
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
