Summary/Objective
The BJCC Senior Accountant will assist in maintaining and reviewing financial records, processing invoices, reconciling discrepancies, and preparing financial reports.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Demonstrates understanding and full performance ability in each of the following:
- Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
- Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
- Reconciles event ticket receipts and prepares event income reports.
- Aids in end of month closing including reconciliation of certain general ledger accounts.
- Processes tenant invoices and receipts.
- Helps prepare monthly financial statements and month end closeouts.
- Prepares invoices and payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Contributes to team effort by assisting all roles in the department.
- Collaborates with box office team for event reconciliation.
- Demonstrates an advanced ability to listen, speak, interact tactfully and persuasively, and establish and maintain relationships constructively and cooperatively with BJCC partners, tenants and the public.
- Demonstrates an ability to independently create or write accurate, legible, grammatically correct reports.
- Demonstrates the ability to analyze and evaluate information and results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Physical Demands
- Extended periods of sitting.
- Limited amount of physical effort such as walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling.
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs with or without assistance, while maintaining good balance.
- Must be flexible enough to reach above shoulder level and be able to push and pull for brief periods of time.
- Visual acuity, speech recognition, and speech clarity.
Work Environment
This environment is fast-paced and moderately demanding. Work is typically performed indoors, in a temperature-controlled office setting.
Required Education And Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years related knowledge, experience, and skills in accounting, account reconciliations, accounts receivable and maintenance of financial records required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in accounting or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Valid State Driver License.
