DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and support monthly financial statements, including maintaining detailed supporting schedules and reconciliations
- Record and post journal entries to the general ledger in accordance with accounting standards
- Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Conduct monthly variance analysis on income statement accounts
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes as needed
- Process weekly agent payroll and communicate with agents to resolve discrepancies
- Affix with external audits by preparing and providing required documentation
- Participate in month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and documentation
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial and performance reports for management
- Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3–5 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting principles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Transportation experience is preferred but not required
- McLeod ERP system experience is preferred but not required
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process and efficiency improvements
- Effective time management and prioritization skills
