Senior Accountant / Analyst
About the role
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Senior Accountant / Analyst (Staff IV) to join our General Accounting team. This role involves preparing and submitting invoices to our primary customer, leading the month-end close process, and interfacing with external and government auditors.
Responsibilities
- Prepare invoices for Aerospace’s primary government customer
- Serve as primary point of contact for billing and invoicing inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Lead the month-end close process by recording and reviewing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and preparing supporting schedules
- Maintain oversight of the progress of close activities, communicate updates to management, and seek opportunities to improve close processes and documentation
- Perform detailed account analyses and reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
- Interface with internal and external auditors; provide requested schedules and documentation
- Lead and coordinate department projects and initiatives as assigned
- Assist other Staff Accountants as needed
Requirements
- Minimum of six or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in the accounting field
- Experience with month-end close processes and general ledger accounting
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience preparing audit schedules and/or analyzing accounting data
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related technical discipline
- CPA certification with hands-on public accounting experience, demonstrating robust expertise in financial analysis, auditing, and regulatory compliance
- MBA degree, showcasing advanced business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities
- Experience with government contract accounting regulations, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), demonstrating specialized knowledge in compliance and cost accounting principles
- Expertise in leveraging advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, and PivotTables to perform complex data analyses and reporting
- A strong passion for data analysis and dashboard reporting, utilizing data-driven insights to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency
