About the Role

Procure and coordinate the supply of raw materials (Aluminum, Resin, Foundry Sub, and Scrap) in support of Honda locations (AEP, TMPOH, and OSP), while initiating and supporting cost reduction activities. Support multiple commodities, including carbon sheet, aluminum sheet and ingot, resin, foundry sub, and recycling initiatives. Coordinate commodity-specific strategies with multiple departments, including Steel and MPR. Act independently as Honda Trading’s representative to Anna Engine Plant and TMP Ohio, providing daily on-site support.

Maintain a regular on-site presence at Anna Engine Plant, TMP Ohio, and OSP four (4) days per week, with a permanent workstation located at Anna Engine Plant (AEP).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure on-time scheduled delivery of customers’ commodity requirements by placing accurate orders, conducting thorough inventory analysis, maintaining frequent supplier follow-up, and achieving 100% on-time delivery with no short shipments or missed shipments.
  • Improve customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of customers and their expectations, providing rapid responses to inquiries, ensuring no pending claims, conducting regularly scheduled visits to customer facilities, and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Support plant-specific new model launches and teardown activities with expertise in multiple commodities (Steel, Aluminum, Resin, and Scrap).
  • Serve as the primary contact and liaison between HTA and assigned suppliers (mills, raw material suppliers, freight providers, etc.), providing regular feedback to support QCDDM philosophy and supplier evaluations.
  • Coordinate meetings, establish and track delivery performance goals, and prepare agendas and presentation materials to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize production and cost data to manage supplier manufacturing processes related to coil yield efficiency.
  • Manage supplier performance metrics and presentation tables, facilitating effective communication between Customer Purchasing, Accounting, and Supplier Sales and Technical teams.
  • Lead and coordinate cost reduction and development projects by working closely with suppliers, customers, and HTA internal teams to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct problem and situation analyses, establish project timelines, and communicate effectively to ensure goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Provide regular updates and present project results to management.
  • Lead and manage the monthly cost analysis with NAP to identify cost discrepancies, evaluate supplier manufacturing performance, and assess its impact on unit cost.
  • Support on-site labor at AEP, TMP, and OSP by ensuring plant requirements are clearly communicated, addressing incidents efficiently, and providing proactive support through MRO management and regular on-site meetings.
  • Support annual cost negotiations and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders to ensure successful operations.
  • Improve department profitability by providing clear and concise reporting of key operating data, performing thorough review and analysis of sales, costs, and margins, maintaining no aged accounts receivable, completing monthly scrap reports, and ensuring rapid inventory turnover (1.5 months for common grades and high-risk inventory as needed).
  • Improve department efficiency by developing clear daily operating procedures with inside representatives, analyzing current tasks and processes to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, and ensuring the accuracy of all documentation, including MSAs, Product Records, and other required records.
  • Act as HTA’s main contact to Honda’s plants, keeping management informed of all potential problems or personnel concerns.
  • Work independently while keeping supervisors informed of activities, key issues, and customer developments.
  • Motivate inside representatives by understanding their daily work activities, encouraging regular project status updates, providing guidance and direction, and coaching to improve efficiency, productivity, and overall performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Finance, or a related field (Preferred).
  • 3+ years of Purchasing or Sales experience (Required).
  • Basic knowledge of cost accounting (Preferred).
  • Customer service experience (Required).
