Senior Account Manager - Patient Engagement
About the role
The Senior Account Manager (SAM) acts as the externally facing representative of the agency, identifying client needs and developing new projects and proposals. The SAM is responsible for the day-to-day running of their accounts, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction. This role serves as an expert on the project’s Therapy Area, both internally and for clients.
Responsibilities
- Account Management
- Maintains ongoing communications with key client contacts to gauge performance and foster relationships.
- Acts as a problem solver for client issues.
- Exhibits solid presentation skills and provides clear strategic direction to the agency team.
- Evaluates creative product and tactical plans against strategic direction and provides constructive feedback.
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of, and compassion for, each client’s patient group and their needs.
- Understands industry business trends and offers innovative solutions based on developments in the patient marketing space.
- Communicates with clients about account and brand strategic needs to identify new business opportunities and drive organic growth.
- Participates in pitch and proposal presentations as needed.
- Tactics and Execution
- Oversees all activities supporting patient-focused programs and projects, including strategy and planning meetings, status meetings, financial reconciliation, partner agency coordination, project-level reporting, and participation in the Review Committee process.
- Approaches client projects from a holistic patient marketing perspective.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop, plan, and execute patient engagement programs.
- Establishes strong and trusted working relationships with client partner agencies and OPEN Health vendor partners.
- May include conducting advocacy landscape analyses and building advocacy engagement plans for clients.
- May require building and maintaining relationships with patient advocacy organizations related to clients’ business.
- Financial Oversight
- Maximizes revenue and profitability by closely monitoring and driving forecast projections.
- Ensures all work is completed within budget, including:
- Scope of Work development
- Client-signed estimates, Purchase Order, and invoice tracking
- Accurate and timely budget reconciliations for all projects
- Ongoing efforts to identify and implement cost-saving measures
- Promptly flags any financial issues to senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Significant experience in professional client relationship management.
- Background in biopharmaceutical patient marketing (client or agency side) is a plus.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel including spreadsheets, PowerPoint), SalesForce, database, and reporting tools. Knowledge of CVENT and Veeva is a plus.
- Ability to make clear, concise decisions and solve complex problems.
- Strength in fostering and maintaining productive, successful working partnerships with clients (at all levels) and the internal team.
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment to achieve goals in a timely fashion.
