Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D animations for characters, creatures, and gameplay actions, including locomotion, combat, abilities, and cinematics
- Own the full animation pipeline from blocking through polish, delivering game-ready assets in Unity
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, and technical artists to ensure animations feel responsive and integrate cleanly into gameplay systems
- Establish and uphold animation standards, style guides, and best practices across the team
- Rapidly iterate on animation based on playtests and stakeholder feedback
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional 3D animation experience in games, with at least one shipped title
- Strong portfolio or demo reel demonstrating polished character and gameplay animation, with command of timing, weight, and appeal
- Expert proficiency in Maya
- Hands-on experience animating for real-time game engines, with Unity strongly preferred, including a deep understanding of state machines, blend trees, and in-engine integration
- Solid understanding of mobile constraints: performance budgets, memory, and optimization
- Rigging and technical animation skills
Pluses
- Experience on a mobile title with the technical constraints of mobile performance
- Familiarity with motion capture cleanup and editing
- Experience with combat-heavy or ability-driven gameplay
- Proficiency with AI tools to accelerate and enhance creative workflows
- Comfort working in a small team where roles overlap and ownership is broad
Pay
Salary: $120,000 – $145,000 depending on experience, plus health/vision/dental coverage, 401(k) with employer match, commuter benefits, and equity.
