About the role
We are seeking enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to provide vital support to children with a variety of special educational needs. You will play a key role in helping students flourish both academically and socially in a nurturing school environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to children with SEN, tailoring assistance to their individual needs.
- Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support programs designed by teachers and specialists.
- Adapt classroom resources and activities to make learning accessible and engaging.
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence in students.
- Liaise closely with teaching staff, therapists, and school leadership to share insights and track progress.
- Observe, record, and report on student achievements and challenges to inform ongoing support strategies.
Requirements
- Experience supporting children with SEN or other learning needs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech/language difficulties.
- Strong interpersonal skills with patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a school team while taking initiative when needed.
- Flexible, reliable, and motivated to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent, are a bonus.
