Semi Truck Driver

About the Role

Drive a semi truck and trailer responsibly and safely, ensuring the secure transport of materials and performing loading/unloading as assigned. Meet internal and external customer needs in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Drive responsibly and safely, following assigned schedules and completing routes, including loading/unloading materials as requested.
• Adhere to all DOT, traffic, and safety regulations while performing duties.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and provide courteous customer service to internal and external customers and other contacts.
• Adhere to Goodwill Retail Standards to ensure high levels of customer and donor service.
• Complete and submit a daily vehicle condition report prior to operation and immediately notify supervisor of repair or maintenance needs.
• Complete other reports/forms as requested in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner.
• Maintain vehicle interior in a clean and orderly fashion and provide for exterior cleaning as assigned.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience driving a semi-truck.
• Ability to operate a truck, van, pallet jack, freight elevator, truck lift, and dock plates as needed.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Driving record acceptable to insurance carrier.
• Valid DOT medical card, as required.
• Additional experience in the trucking industry preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Wear assigned uniform and/or Goodwill identification while on duty.
• Ability to safely operate a semi truck and trailer and other vehicles as assigned.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers and other contacts in a professional manner.
• Working knowledge of safe working practices and DOT and other rules and regulations pertaining to the assigned work environment.
• Ability to work varied work schedules and flexible hours.
• Full range of motion; ability to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively and professionally in verbal and written form.
• Capable of meeting the physical demands required for a commercial driver’s license.

Pay

Placement within the salary range considers education, experience, internal equity, market demands, and other qualifying criteria. It is not typical for individuals to be hired at or near the top of the range.
