Full-time, regular position with a rotating work shift and scheduled weekly hours of 36.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse, performing basic and specialized procedures to ensure patient well-being, comfort, and safety.
- Performs direct patient care tasks, including collecting and recording specimens and body fluids.
- Under direct supervision, carries out technical procedures such as venipuncture for blood samples, EKGs, placing electrodes, and obtaining telemetry readings.
- Collects and documents patient data on appropriate flow sheets as defined by the Skill Inventory List.
- Collects specimens, performs basic tests, or sends specimens to the laboratory per hospital policies.
- Attends to patients' environmental needs, including straightening belongings and offering comfort measures as directed by the nurse.
- Participates in Quality Assurance activities as directed by the nurse.
- Orients patients and families to the unit and patient room, providing copies of the Patients' Bill of Rights as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the nurse to support unit functioning and patient care delivery.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and two years of experience in health care delivery in roles such as Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, EMT, Medic/Corps Person, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of two clinical semesters as a Nursing Student may substitute for experience.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $20.29 - $27.53 per hour, representing the first and last step pay rates as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be determined in accordance with the terms of the agreement.
