Part-time, rotating shift, 24 scheduled weekly hours.
Compensation range: $20.29 - $27.53 (first and last step pay rates per collective bargaining agreement).
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse, performing basic and specialized procedures to ensure patient well-being, comfort, and safety.
- Performs direct patient care tasks, including collecting and recording specimens and body fluids.
- Under direct supervision, carries out technical procedures such as venipuncture for blood samples, EKGs, electrode placement, and telemetry readings.
- Collects and documents patient data on appropriate flow sheets as defined by the Patient Care Technician Skill Inventory.
- Collects specimens, performs basic tests, or sends specimens to the laboratory per hospital policies.
- Attends to patients' environmental needs, including straightening belongings and offering comfort measures as directed by the nurse.
- Participates in Quality Assurance activities as directed.
- Orients patients and families to the unit and patient room, providing copies of the Patients' Bill of Rights as directed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by nursing staff to support unit functioning and patient care delivery.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and two years of experience in health care delivery (e.g., Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, EMT, Medic/Corps Person).
- Alternatively, completion of two clinical semesters as a Nursing Student or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
