Segment Producer, MS NOW The Weekend

About the role
MS NOW is looking for an experienced Segment Producer for The Weekend. This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.
Responsibilities
- Research, report, and write daily segments.
- Write and suggest interview questions for each segment.
- Determine video and sound for assigned segments.
- Communicate daily story development with senior producer.
- Be in control room during airing of live segment.
- Take part in editorial planning.
- Work on content for digital platforms, social media, and MS NOW’s DTC products.
- Pitch story ideas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong writing skills and knowledge of American politics.
- Strong research and reporting skills.
- At least 5 years of experience in journalism (e.g., cable or network news, website, newspaper).
- Ability to handle daily script deadline pressure.
- Willing to work in New York, NY or Washington, D.C.
- Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
- Willing and able to work flexible hours, including breaking news, under tight deadline pressure.
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to develop story ideas, research, and plan segments.
- Experience booking guests and working with graphics and video elements.
- Exceptional editorial skills, including recognizing stories with high potential for compelling television.
- Knowledge of current events, politics, and pop culture.
- Wide-ranging reader of news, including op-eds.
- Proficiency in both tape and desktop editing.
- Edit room experience and breaking news experience preferred.

Pay
Salary range: $93,000 – $110,000.
