Seeking Part-Time Physician or Psychiatrist
About the Role
AppleGate Recovery, a division of BayMark Health Services, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Physician (MD or DO) or Psychiatrist to join our team in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This part-time opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact within a collaborative, multidisciplinary treatment environment dedicated to evidence-based care for opioid use disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct admission evaluations, including medical and psychiatric assessments, patient histories, and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and treat patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Perform comprehensive assessments and in-person/telehealth admissions for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
- Evaluate, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD), alcohol use disorder (AUD), and co-occurring conditions.
- Initiate and manage MAT, including buprenorphine and other evidence-based modalities.
- Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up care.
- Administer long-acting injectable medications: Sublocade®, Brixadi®, Vivitrol®.
- Collaborate with counseling, nursing, and administrative teams to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic health record.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational clinical standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and best practices in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment.
Qualifications
- Board-Certified Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Board-Certified Psychiatrist.
- Current, unrestricted Louisiana medical license or ability to obtain licensure.
- DEA registration and authority to prescribe controlled substances.
- Experience treating Substance Use Disorders (SUD) strongly preferred.
- Experience managing co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders highly desirable.
- Ability to interact compassionately and effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Successful completion of drug screening and background check.
Preferred Experience
- Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry experience.
- Experience in opioid treatment programs (OTP), office-based opioid treatment (OBOT), behavioral health, or integrated care settings.
- Familiarity with medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and naltrexone.
