Responsibilities

• Supervise Security Team Specialists I.
• Patrol all buildings, grounds, and adjacent areas of the hospital at regular intervals and guard against trespass, theft, fire, and damage to property.
• Maintain order among visitors and staff.
• Maintain motor vehicle traffic controls on hospital grounds including parking, speeding and other traffic conditions and take necessary measures to prevent unauthorized use of hospital roads and parking facilities.
• Perform security duties such as screening visitors, directing traffic, and enforcing parking controls.
• Provide personal protection to individuals as required including but not limited to, searching for missing goods and persons, conducting surveillance, and investigating complaints and reports of suspicious activities.
• Assist with providing custodial supervision of medically ill and mental health clients, and escort them to various appointments.
• Coordinate the maintenance of hospital firefighting equipment, alarm systems and other safeguards; report defects and request repairs in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and requirements.
• Monitor hospital switchboard, gauges, and alarm indicator panels; take necessary action in event of malfunction or alarm, including system resets.
• Prepare reports on investigations conducted and noteworthy incidents during tour of duty.
• Preserve crime scenes and fire sites, perform searches and inspections, serve court summons to patients or staff, and perform job related duties for safety and security as necessary and as directed.

• At least two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience in work involving the protection and/or security of buildings, equipment or individuals. (An Associate's degree with a major in a related field may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of the required experience. A Bachelor's degree or higher with a major in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.)
• Must obtain and maintain a valid certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and first aid.
• Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior health care facility security or law enforcement experience.
• CPR Certified, First Responder and NARCAN trained.
• Ability to solve problems and relate to hospital staff, constituents, and other community members in a positive and professional manner.
• Talent for recognizing the cultural diversity of the campus community and ensure sensitive and equitable treatment of all who work and visit the campus.
• Bilingual or multilingual fluency.

Pay

Salary: $59,393.62. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
