Security Support Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day security support for classified programs, including Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Programs (SAP), while ensuring compliance with DoD and Air Force security policies.
  • Manage personnel security clearances, classified information, physical security, facility access, visitor control, and security databases to protect sensitive assets.
  • Monitor and respond to security systems and alarms, conduct inspections, support SCIF/SAPF operations, and coordinate with law enforcement or facility personnel when required.
  • Develop and maintain security procedures, provide classification guidance, perform document reviews, and support security awareness training and education programs.
  • Maintain accountability for classified materials through inventories, audits, records management, secure storage, distribution, and compliance inspections.
  • Apply knowledge of security regulations, counterintelligence threats, DISS, SCI/SAP operations, and Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO) responsibilities while supporting multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, technical proficiency, independent judgment, and flexibility to support 24/7 operations, travel requirements, and dynamic security environments with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience

  • Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and three (3) years of directly related experience.
  • Five (5) years of directly related experience.

Other Position Requirements

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance by date of hire.
  • Must be able to travel, including air travel.
