About the role
L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Document Control Specialist in its Herndon, VA location. The Document Control Specialist has custodial responsibility for safeguarding and accounting of controlled documents.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an organized and detailed inventory of controlled documentation primarily using a security management system.
- Administer and control documents that are received, transmitted, and destroyed as a part of working in a secure environment.
- Conduct physical inventory of assets, identify anomalies, and initiate corrective actions in accordance with established procedures.
- Review documents, media, or hardware to determine proper classification markings in accordance with the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO), contract(s), or security manuals.
- Input controlled media into material databases.
- Manage dispatch and receipt requirements for inspection purposes.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail to include hand-carrying shipments to local postal office.
- Provide security briefings, debriefings, and awareness training for site personnel.
- Review the details and requirements issued in formal DD254 contracts to support contract close out efforts.
- Assist with the destruction of controlled items to include documents, optical media, and hard drives in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain proficiency in Industrial Security disciplines to include: Marking Classified Information, Derivative Classification, Transmission and Transportation of Classified Information, Safeguarding Classified Information in the National Industrial Security Program, Protection of Personally Identifiable Information, and Basic Information Security.
Requirements
- Must have a DoD Secret clearance upon start date.
- Use of a document management system, such as SIMS, required.
- Education – High School Diploma.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in an inventory management related position.
- Must be a US Citizen.

Pay
The salary range for this role in Virginia (Greater D.C. area) is $52,000 – $84,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
