About the Role

The Security Shift Supervisor oversees security team members and daily security operations, working closely with Assistant Supervisors, Security Officers, and the Site Security Manager. The role involves promoting safe behaviors, controlling access, maintaining order, enforcing rules, and collaborating to address security concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, organize, and direct the daily activities of the security team.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with security personnel, visitors, vendors, employees, and customers.
  • Monitor security operations and team performance, providing guidance and training.
  • Address customer service inquiries and security‑related concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure CCTV systems monitor designated areas in compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct vehicle and foot patrols of the property, including grounds, parking areas, perimeters, entrances, exits, doors, gates, and secured areas.
  • Manage access control by greeting visitors, vendors, and employees, verifying identification, and maintaining accurate logs.
  • Identify, document, and report safety hazards, security breaches, suspicious activity, and other concerns.
  • Respond to emergencies, alarms, and incidents, coordinating with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other emergency personnel.
  • Conduct shift briefings and ensure accurate communication and handoffs between shifts.
  • Administer discipline and corrective action for security team members in accordance with company policy, documenting performance concerns and coordinating with the Site Security Manager and Human Resources.
  • Serve as a peer advocate and representative for security officers in disciplinary or remediation settings when requested.
  • Interview, onboard, and train new security team members.

Requirements

  • Must hold a DPS Level II license upon hire and obtain a Level III license within 30 days of hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or 5 years of experience in management, law enforcement, security, and/or military.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • High level of weapons proficiency.
  • Certification in CPR/AED/First Aid.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English; bilingual skills are helpful but not required.
  • Must wear a bulletproof (ballistic) vest (provided by company) and maintain proper uniform and personal appearance.
  • Willingness to work varying hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to climb ladders and access tight or awkward spaces.
  • Capability to bend, reach, stoop, and pull with good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 75 pounds.
  • Work onsite in a mining or data‑center environment with heat, noise, and varying temperatures.

Safety Requirements

  • Strict adherence to all site safety protocols and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel‑toed boots.
  • Proactive identification, reporting, and mitigation of potential workplace hazards.
  • Compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety training.
  • Maintain clean, obstruction‑free work areas to prevent accidents.
