Security Specialist II
About the role
BAE Systems Space and Mission (SMS) is looking to hire a Security Specialist to support the Program Security Consolidated Persec, ensuring compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Manual (NISPOM) and other applicable manuals. This role supports the SMS PERSEC team with clearance processing, SMS Visitor Control, and Special Programs across the growing sector. Responsibilities
- Acquire, review, and process to completion: initial clearances, 5-year clearance reinvestigations, reinstatements, and clearance upgrades.
- Process SMS new hires and terminations in SIMS/DISS.
- Support and process PSQs, foreign travel, and reporting as per Special Program Requirements.
- Maintain working knowledge of SIMS, DISS, eQIP/eAPP, and NBIS.
- Maintain SMS SIMS and DISS records.
- Maintain Persec folders and SharePoint databases.
- Provide and maintain monthly and quarterly metrics.
- Maintain continuity plans relative to the PERSEC office.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Work Environment
- On-site work required: five days each normally scheduled week at the primary work location.
- Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus 2 or more years of related experience. Each higher-level degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education or US Department of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Polygraph. This position is contingent upon access or briefing approval by the customer.
- Experience with PC and Microsoft Office Software, strong writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience providing briefings or public speaking.
- Strong decision-making and reasoning skills.
- Professional demeanor, good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively, and perform in a multi-tasked environment.
- Ability to manage time, make sound decisions, work independently, analyze problems, and provide focused solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of SIMS, DISS, eQIP, and eAPP.
- Experience conducting or supporting background investigations for security clearance applicants.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $67,406 – $114,590. Individual salaries are determined by factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
