About the role

GGS Security Specialists provide security-related services, control site access, and respond to actual or potential security threats and violations at Gerald Gentleman Station (GGS).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate mental alertness and the ability to multitask, exercise good judgement, and implement instructions and policies.
• Communicate accurately through written, spoken, audible, visible, or other signals as required by assigned duties.
• Operate all District security systems independently and fluently within 6 weeks of hire.
• Assess actual and potential security risks, violations, and incidents, taking appropriate action to minimize or prevent further risk to District assets, including personnel and property.
• Control access to GGS using Physical Access Control Systems (PACS), cameras, and intercom systems.
• Follow District guidelines to ensure compliance with federal (NERC), state, local, and District security requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Minimum age of 21.
• Experience working in a dispatch center, call center, alarm monitoring center, or security operations center (preferred).
• Extensive firearms experience/training, preferably through law enforcement, security, corrections, or military.
• Knowledge of access control and/or video management systems (preferred).
• Knowledge of NERC procedural requirements (preferred).
• Experience making independent use-of-force decisions in real-life situations.
• Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute.
• Minimum of 2 years of Security Operations Center experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Other relevant work experience or demonstrated performance may substitute for specified years of experience.

Pay

• Security Specialist I, Non-Exempt (Pay Grade 6): $21.02–$24.52/hour
• Security Specialist II, Non-Exempt (Pay Grade 7): $23.07–$26.91/hour
• Security Specialist III, Non-Exempt (Pay Grade 8): $25.35–$29.57/hour
• Security Specialist I (Armed), Non-Exempt (Pay Grade 7): $23.07–$26.91/hour
• Security Specialist II (Armed), Non-Exempt (Pay Grade 8): $25.35–$29.57/hour
• Security Specialist III (Armed), Non-Exempt (Pay Grade 9): $27.94–$33.09/hour

In addition to the base salary, employees may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program (AIP), which supplements total compensation. Successful applicants will receive more details during the interview process.
