Position Overview
The Security Services Associate position at Canopy Children's Solutions involves conducting unarmed foot and/or vehicle patrols, controlling access and egress, monitoring CCTV and alarm systems, composing reports, deterring criminal activity, and performing other duties as specified.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct patrols of Organization property reporting any property damage or risk to Security Services Supervisor.
- Escort visitors as necessary.
- Check Day School students in/out daily for school.
- Sign clients in/out for passes with assistance of nurse and other designated staff.
- Observe and assist in client care.
- Maintain an accurate log of security activities.
- Effectively communicate with visitors and staff.
- Respond to all alarm calls promptly and communicate with emergency services.
- Demonstrate understanding of program operations, policies and procedures through the attendance of orientation and ongoing training.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of CANOPY Campus-Based programs.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the organization’s Code of Conduct.
- Show computer literacy, at a minimum in Windows, Word, Outlook.
- Follow all prescribed procedures and policies.
- Complete and ensure the proper completion of various types of forms and documents.
- Produce all required reports and data collection.
- Use of telephone, radio, copy machines, computers, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Coordinate with campus-based management staff and employees to meet security needs.
- Accurately account for temporary badges.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Pass any required training or other qualification.
- Be able to work flexible schedules.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
- Have access to reliable transportation.
- No use of illegal drugs- must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
- Be able to pass an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle.
- Pass a State licensing test if you will be driving a company-owned vehicle.
- Be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if you were in the military.
- Be able to successfully complete all training required for the position.
- Be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
- Show an ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
Physical And Environmental Requirements
- Required Physical Activities: sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting, talking, seeing, hearing, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching overhead, and climbing stairs as needed and repetitive motions.
- Must have the physical ability to assist in the physical or therapeutic hold of youth when required, following organization approved safety protocols.
- Characteristics of Work: frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and physically assist or support youth and/or staff.
- Vision Requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Environmental Conditions: this job requires exposure to both inside and outside weather conditions; the typical noise level for the work environment is moderate to loud noise.
