Responsibilities
- Act as “our customer’s best service provider” to ensure Convergint remains the customer’s first choice for service.
- Respond to routine and non-routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance, and emergency/after-hours calls; diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace defective parts, and debug systems for routine problems; install projects as needed.
- Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
- Analyze repair requirements, provide customers with solutions, complete necessary repairs and replacements, and exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques.
- Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customers and Convergint to ensure proper invoicing and job cost tracking.
- Perform custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits, consultation, and/or database management and manipulation.
- Install, configure, and support a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
- Execute all service calls in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as company health and safety policies.
- Collaborate with team members to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center and the company.
- Primarily perform preventative maintenance for installed systems that are typically less complex.
- Work closely with other specialists to cross-train on servicing existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs, and handling small projects.
- Provide technical assistance, systems checkout for new and existing installations, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair routines for installed security systems, and installation of small or less complex projects.
- Participate in the Recruit Awesome People program to help grow Convergint by referring top talent.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Requirements
- Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to maintain awareness of and meet customer needs without prompting.
- Developing technical skills and experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
- Ability to develop basic programming skills and proven troubleshooting abilities.
- Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
- Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
