Security Service Specialist 1
About the role
Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven and forward-thinking Security Service Technician to join their amazing culture. The role involves responding to routine and some non-routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after-hours service calls on a timely basis; diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, replacing defective parts and debugging systems for routine problems; installing projects as necessary; identifying and resolving problems for many types of service calls including emergency and after-hours calls; analyzing repair requirements and providing customer with appropriate solutions; completing necessary repairs and replacements as needed; exercising judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results; completing accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint in a timely manner to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking; providing custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation; installing, configuring, and supporting a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects; executing all service calls in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations as well as company health and safety policies and procedures; using solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software; communicating with and working with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center, and company; responsible for primarily performing preventative maintenance for installed systems that are typically less complex; working closely with other specialists to cross-train on servicing existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs and small projects business; performing other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Responsibilities
- Respond to routine and some non-routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after-hours service calls on a timely basis;
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace defective parts and debug systems for routine problems;
- Install projects as necessary;
- Identify and resolve problems for many types of service calls including emergency and after-hours calls;
- Analyze repair requirements and provide customer with appropriate solutions;
- Complete necessary repairs and replacements as needed;
- Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results;
- Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint in a timely manner to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking;
- Provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation;
- Install, configure, and support a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects;
- Execute all service calls in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations as well as company health and safety policies and procedures;
- Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software;
- Communicate with and work with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center, and company;
- Responsible for primarily performing preventative maintenance for installed systems that are typically less complex;
- Work closely with other specialists to cross-train on servicing existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs and small projects business;
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Requirements
- Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted;
- Developing technical skills and experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems;
- Ability to develop basic programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions;
- Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper);
- Proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Qualifications
- Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience;
- Preferred Experience: (but not required): 1-3 years relevant experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation;
- Hourly Rate: $27-30/HR USD.
