Security Response Officer (armed) - Security - Full-Time
An armed Security Response Officer collaborates with the security team and hospital staff to provide a safe environment for stakeholders. This role proactively addresses and de-escalates tense situations, responds to security assistance requests, and works with law enforcement as needed. The officer enforces hospital security policies, investigates incidents, prepares written reports, and provides security-related training and patrols.
About the role
The primary responsibility is serving as the hospital’s “first responder.” The role requires maintaining certification in both lethal and non-lethal response capabilities, as well as semiannual physical readiness testing and detention techniques.
Responsibilities
- Responds to, de-escalates, and investigates situations reported to Security using hospital-approved methods.
- Alerts appropriate individuals of security matters while maintaining confidentiality to the extent possible without endangering others.
- Maintains knowledge of department locations, buildings, access routes, and admitting requirements.
- Works with hospital management to identify security needs of each location or department and responds appropriately.
- Contacts East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) to investigate suspicious activities or security violations requiring jurisdictional response.
- Maintains knowledge of control panels, alarms, and related security equipment for area and visitor surveillance.
- Performs vigilant patrols of assigned areas, identifies suspicious activity, and responds appropriately.
- Conducts exterior patrols of hospital facilities using a company vehicle.
- Performs timely data entry and completes written reports for accurate documentation using assigned software systems.
- Drives a security vehicle.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Woman’s Hospital.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license and excellent driving record.
- Five years of experience in military, law enforcement, or security is preferred.
- Active Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) certification is preferred.
Pay
Hourly/Non-Exempt: $18.00 – $26.00, based on work experience.
Schedule
12-hour shifts, rotating between days and nights.
