About the role

AWS Data Center Security is seeking a highly talented and motivated Security Program Manager to join our team. The candidate will manage complex security initiatives, delivering critical solutions while implementing improvements, new mechanisms, or deprecating outdated processes. This role involves the design, installation, and full lifecycle management of physical security systems, including Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and CCTV Surveillance, as well as overall security policy and program management. You will work with multiple teams across organizations to integrate business requirements into physical security system design and implementation.

The ideal candidate will work across disciplines, from physical security system design and construction to system maintenance and upgrades. You will solve ambiguous problems, proactively identify security vulnerabilities, and apply mitigation strategies to reduce risk. This role may require travel and the ability to work autonomously.

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to innovation. You’ll collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing scalable capacity at the lowest possible cost.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Security Program Managers (SPMs) at a regional or multi-cluster level, owning a large portion of security system architecture with impact across clusters, regions, and geographies.
  • Represent your team autonomously with minimal guidance from management, evangelizing AWS Leadership Principles.
  • Determine team structure and strategic direction, recommend new requisitions, and participate in hiring.
  • Mentor and coach your team, providing constructive feedback and promotion assessments.
  • Support the design and deployment of physical security packages and program enhancements for AWS data centers.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection.
  • Work with Cluster Security Managers, Regional Security Managers, Data Center Security Managers, and internal/external customers to integrate business requirements into security system design.
  • Continuously review and improve security standards, staying abreast of industry developments to enhance AWS data center security.
  • Assess processes, program plans, and operations requirements to improve project delivery and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Manage multi-million-dollar budgets, track cost reductions, and optimize resources.
  • Negotiate with vendors and build cross-functional partnerships.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of process improvement or procedure creation experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in infrastructure security.
  • 5+ years of physical security experience in data centers, infrastructure deployment, logistics, manufacturing, or similar environments, including access control, video surveillance/VMS, intrusion detection, and defense-in-depth strategies.
  • 5+ years of physical security project and vendor management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance/management systems.
  • PSP, CPP, or PMP certification.
  • Basic networking infrastructure knowledge and topology.
  • Experience managing multiple large-scale, complex projects with competing timelines.
  • Full lifecycle project management experience: budgets, schedules, change orders, and deliverables.
  • Ability to prioritize in fast-paced environments and deliver on time and within budget.
  • Understanding of security principles and methodology for data center facilities.
  • Knowledge of emerging physical security technologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Vendor negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Mentorship capability and cross-functional partnership building.

Pay

USA, TX, Wharton - $108,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually. Your package includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
