Security Parking

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Picks up City truck from assigned parking deck and begins patrol of all the City decks.
• Drives the truck throughout the decks, checking in every hour, by hand-held radio, with the City Switchboard.
• Gets out of truck and walks parts of the decks, such as stairwells and looks for people loitering about.
• Has authority to ask the people to leave or call the police if needed.
• Provides assistance to customers who have parked in the deck, such as helping them get out of deck or giving directions.
• Provides minor repair to money machines and other equipment.
• Operates a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices on a regular basis.
• At times, places "No Parking" signs on surrounding streets in accordance with the Parking Department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Three (3) months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Certificates And/Or Licenses

• Vehicle Operator’s license with satisfactory driving record that meets insurability standards of the City’s insurance carrier is required.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; and extreme heat.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
