Security Operations Manager

About the role
Operations Managers provide leadership and management of our contract and temporary security contracts in the assigned region. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic, energetic individual with experience in leadership or supervisory positions, strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills. The position requires some light travel throughout Southeast Michigan and Flint/Bay City/Saginaw areas, with a flexible work schedule to meet business needs.
Operations Managers report directly to the VP of Operations and oversee Site Supervisors and Security Officers in the field. They support and contribute to company-wide business development initiatives and the overall vision and goals of the company.
Responsibilities
- Contract Management:
- Manage and lead Supervisors and Security Officers to maintain client relationships, uphold company policies, and treat employees with care.
- Oversee relationships between client contacts and assigned Assistant Operations Managers.
- Ensure Supervisors complete the required number of site visits.
- Ensure timely and appropriate outfitting of employees by Supervisors.
- Maintain positive relationships between Supervisors and employees.
- Complete objective, performance-based written appraisals of subordinates within 14 days of their anniversary date; ensure Supervisors do the same for their teams.
- Implement progressive disciplinary actions for policy violations in accordance with company policy, after consulting Human Resources. No suspension or discharge occurs without HR input.
- Client Relations:
- Personally foster and maintain consistent relationships with all client contacts.
- Billable Hours:
- Work an average of 16 hours per week in a billable capacity as a Security Officer at contract locations.
- Employee Training:
- Maintain up-to-date training programs, including general officer and supervisor training.
- Conduct bi-annual to quarterly supervisor trainings and meetings.
- Organize and ensure appropriate employees are trained in CPR, First Aid, and MFR.
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification (prior certification preferred).
- Become a ProTrainings CPR/First Aid/AED Skill Evaluator and conduct recurring skill evaluations for employees.
- Temporary Accounts:
- Oversee all temporary assignments in the designated region, ensuring an MOU and post guidelines are written and communicated to employees prior to deployment.
- Overtime Management:
- Ensure non-billable overtime for uniform security accounts remains below the company-established threshold.
- Payroll:
- Ensure accurate and complete submission of all billing and payroll data division-wide within company timelines.
- Site Visits:
- Conduct site inspections for each assigned account, documenting and reporting visits in the prescribed format.
- Site Equipment and Uniforms:
- Maintain an inventory of all DK-owned equipment and employee uniforms used by subordinates by assigned account.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL).
- Experience in leadership or supervisory positions.
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Flexible availability to meet business needs, including occasional travel within Southeast Michigan and Flint/Bay City/Saginaw areas.
- Ability to work 40+ hours per week (full-time).
- Ability to work 16 billable hours per week as a Security Officer at contract locations.
- Prior CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
Schedule
- 1st Shift, Monday–Friday (shift times may vary to fit business needs).
- 40+ hours per week (full-time).
Pay
$47,000 per year with benefits.
