About the role

IBSS Corporation is seeking an experienced Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager to support a Federal Security Operations Center. The SOC Manager will lead the frontline defense team, ensuring continuous, 24x7 manned operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of cybersecurity professionals, including analysts, incident responders, and security tool engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership to SOC analysts in executing the cybersecurity strategy and evaluating threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Act as the incident commander and ultimate escalation point for the SOC during high-severity incidents.
  • Cook regularly interact with federal staff counterparts and government leadership to advise on operational activities, notable threats, and situational awareness.
  • Ensure the SOC operates within policies mandated by the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), Federal Information Technology Reform Act (FITARA), Client Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and other applicable frameworks.
  • Manage resources, plan tasks, and develop shift schedules necessary to operate and maintain a 24x7 SOC environment.
  • Consistently manage schedules that may fall outside normal business hours.
  • Prepare cybersecurity reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing threat data and operational trends.
  • Report SOC-related metrics as defined and required within the contract.
  • Handle managerial responsibilities including staffing, performance assessments, career path planning, and coaching.
  • Maintain incident response procedures by developing and conducting ongoing training programs.
  • Operate autonomously to investigate and escalate incidents per protocols and contractual SLAs.
  • Identify, prioritize, and assign resources to SOC capability enhancement ideas, collaborating with the dedicated SOC transformation and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • US Citizen with an active Top Secret Clearance (active Secret with Interim TS acceptable).
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field with 8-10 years of technical experience, including at least 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience in a 24x7 CSOC, NOC, or technical support environment.
  • Shall possess and maintain one or more of the following DoD 8140/8570 compliant certifications: CISSP, SANS Cert Track (e.g., GCIH, GCIA), CompTIA Cert Track (e.g., CASP+), CEH-Master, or ISACA CSX.
  • Proficient in multiple technologies and systems used to defend networks, including SIEM, SOAR, and IDS/IPS.
  • Previous experience implementing cultural and operational changes, identifying opportunities for technology enhancements to drive innovation and cost savings.
  • Must be able to consistently work rotating shifts, weekends, and schedules outside normal business hours as required by a 24x7 environment.

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field with 8-10 years of technical experience, including at least 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience in a 24x7 CSOC, NOC, or technical support environment.
  • Desired: SOC Analyst and Incident Response Experience, Prior experience working alongside significant technology refresh and insertion projects.

$150K - $170K (based on years of experience)
