About the role

This Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst opportunity is suited to a technically strong cybersecurity professional with hands-on experience in security operations and incident investigation. The SOC Analyst will play an important role in monitoring and responding to cybersecurity events across enterprise environments, while supporting investigation, containment, and remediation activity. This position offers exposure to a professional office setting that may also sit within or alongside an industrial plant environment. The role is ideal for candidates who want to contribute to operational security, strengthen detection and response capability, and support continuous improvement within a collaborative team environment.

Role Context

This opportunity sits within the cybersecurity operations function of a company operating in an industrial environment. The role is based in a professional office environment within or outside of an industrial plant setting, with standard office-based working conditions and occasional movement between company work locations as required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, triage, validate, and investigate security alerts across enterprise environments.
  • Analyse suspicious activity, indicators of compromise, phishing attempts, malware alerts, credential compromise indicators, and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Document investigation findings, actions taken, evidence, recommendations, and response activities in case records.
  • Support incident response activity, including evidence gathering, timeline development, stakeholder coordination, and post-incident improvement actions.
  • Work closely with senior cybersecurity personnel and cross-functional teams to support investigation, containment, remediation, and user guidance.
  • Review threat intelligence, vulnerability disclosures, and security advisories to identify relevant threats and potential organizational impact.
  • Conduct proactive threat hunting and recommend improvements to detections, alert tuning, and response workflows.
  • Support playbook, procedure, and knowledge article improvements to strengthen operational consistency and analyst handover practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hands-on experience in SOC operations, incident response, phishing investigation, threat monitoring, or related cybersecurity operations.
  • Strong understanding of SOC workflows, incident response concepts, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and security monitoring fundamentals.
  • Ability to recognize phishing, smishing, business email compromise, malware activity, credential compromise, suspicious user behavior, and common attacker tactics.
  • Strong technical analysis, documentation, prioritization, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate findings, risks, investigation status, and next steps clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cybersecurity, infrastructure, identity, endpoint, and business teams.
  • Desirable: Industry certification such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, Microsoft SC-200, Cisco CyberOps Associate, GSEC, GCIH, CEH, or similar.
  • Desirable: Experience writing or modifying SIEM queries, EDR detection logic, threat hunting queries, or basic automation scripts.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, NIST incident response concepts, or similar frameworks.
  • Desirable: Experience supporting cybersecurity awareness activity, phishing simulations, vulnerability prioritization, remediation tracking, control validation, reporting, or exposure management.
