About the Role
As a Part‑Time Security Officer (Unarmed Patrol) in Syracuse, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as retail and malls. You will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and provide outstanding customer service to shoppers, tenants, and visitors. The role offers flexibility through the “Claim a Shift” platform, allowing you to build a schedule that works for you and explore new roles.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to shoppers, tenants, visitors, and staff by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
- Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the retail property, including common areas, parking facilities, exterior perimeters, and tenant corridors.
- Monitor access points, observe activity throughout the location, and report suspicious activity, hazards, or maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with traffic flow, visitor directions, and tenant support while maintaining a professional presence that helps deter unwanted activity.
Minimum Requirements
- A state, county, or city‑issued security‑related license is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles (21+ for armed roles).
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.
