Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle to ensure safety and security
• Monitor premises, surveillance systems, and access points
• Control access by verifying credentials, badges, and visitor authorization
• Identify and respond to suspicious activity, safety hazards, or security breaches
• Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, and incidents
• Provide professional, courteous, and helpful assistance to employees, visitors, and clients
• Serve as a visible security presence to deter potential threats
• Maintain a calm, professional demeanor in all situations
• Represent the company’s values and commitment to service excellence
• Complete accurate daily activity reports and incident reports
• Document security events, violations, and unusual occurrences
• Communicate incidents and concerns promptly to supervisors and leadership
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and post orders
• Adhere to client‑specific requirements and security protocols
• Maintain required licenses and certifications
• Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and professionalism
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to patrol large indoor and outdoor areas
• Ability to observe and respond quickly to changing conditions
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds if required

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security licenses
• Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screening
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
• Reliable attendance and dependable transportation
• Capable of performing the duties and responsibilities of a security officer
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a Kansas City, Missouri Class B Unarmed Security License
• Successfully complete the required KCPD licensing process, including fingerprinting, criminal‑history screening, and the written examination
• Provide the documentation required by KCPD

Preferred:

• Prior experience in security, military, law enforcement, or customer service
• CPR, First Aid, or AED certification
• Experience with access control systems and surveillance equipment
