About the role

As a Security Officer – Unarmed Alarm Panel Monitoring in Roanoke, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as utilities. You will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, help deter incidents, and support access control and alarm response while providing exceptional customer service and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by carrying out site‑specific procedures, access‑control requirements, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, notifying designated personnel and emergency services as directed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of utility facilities, buildings, equipment areas, parking locations, and perimeter boundaries to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials as directed, and maintain accurate security‑related logs and incident reports.
• Observe and report unusual conditions, infrastructure concerns, and policy violations to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements

• Alarm panel experience (preferred).
• Customer service experience (preferred).
• A guard card or license (preferred).
• Access control and badge experience (preferred).
• Comfort using a computer or tablet (preferred).
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation required in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Drug screen required to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required prior to employment, subject to state/local regulations.
• Valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.
